George’s technical background extends beyond 36 years of experience. As an application developer, he has exceeded the many challenges IT professionals experience. He has always accepted change in a positive way and continues to challenge himself through learning and remaining current within his field of expertise.
George began his career after attending Thompson Institute where he studied Executive Data Management and received an Associate Degree in Specialized Business. This built the foundation upon which he would grow. After graduation he accepted a position with an independent wholesale food distributor as their second shift computer operator.
George was promoted to a Junior Applications Developer within two years. His work ethic and interpersonal skills were recognized by his employer, thus they rewarded him with a promotion. He still continued some of the operational duties while being groomed as a developer and the shift change allowed him to meet leaders of the corporation. This allowed him to obtain knowledge of the business that would make him a better developer.
After a year or so, the growth of the company put them at a disadvantage with their home-grown computer applications and antiquated system. The company hired a consultant to assess their existing system and make recommendations that would better position the company for future expansion. George soon became the consultant’s go-to guy for detailed information on the existing business processes and the computer applications.
George’s willingness and cooperation with the consultant made him an asset to the company and the consultant. Upon completion of the analysis, recommendations were made and the company followed through with them. The consultant was then hired as the IT Director and upon his hire he immediately promoted George to Senior Programmer/Analyst.
The birth of the World Wide Web and the Internet opened up another area for George to pursue. In the late 1990s he began teaching himself web development; developing websites for friends and a few businesses. In 2013 George attained a Certificate of Proficiency in Web Development and Design from Harrisburg Area Community College in Harrisburg Pennsylvania.
